The historic city boasts world class facilities, from purpose-build conference centres with state-of-the-art technology to historic properties that have been delightfully transformed into modern event spaces. Many hotels also house well-equipped conference and meeting rooms, including many in the historic centre of the city. The following are some of the best and largest conference facilities found in and around Bath.

Bath's Historic Venues

The Bath & North East Somerset Council's Bath's Historic Venues manages unusual and interesting settings for conferences and other events. The organisation provides venue hire as well as other support for organising business events. Venue options include the Assembly Rooms, the Roman Baths and Pump Room and the Guildhall for conferences and meetings. All three venues as well as the Victoria Art Gallery are also suitable for receptions and dinners, while the Assembly Rooms and the Guildhall are also good options for exhibitions.

The stately Assembly Rooms is the city's premier conference site with a capacity of up to 500 delegates. Four interlinking rooms provide a high level of flexibility. Just a five minute walk from the train station, the Guildhall is perfect for medium sized conferences and smaller events. The elegant Banqueting Rooms accommodates up to 360 people, while other smaller rooms are ideal for break-out sessions, workshops and smaller gatherings. The Pump Room at the Roman Baths has two rooms with views of Bath Abbey. The Victoria Art Gallery is close to Bath Abbey and the Guildhall. The gallery accommodates up to 150 people for receptions and other events.

University of Bath

The University of Bath Innovation Centre boasts modern and airy conference rooms for up to 90 people. The centre is a leading membership organisation for high-potential and high-growth businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators. In addition to meeting space, the centre also offers a number of business supports for start-ups, flexible office space, and co-working spaces. Conferencing options include a modern conference room with a presentation stage, a business theatre, a boardroom, and various meeting rooms. Located in the heart of Bath's central business district, the facility is easily accessible by rail and bus. It is also approximately 45 minutes from Bristol Airport by car. Dedicated staff are provided on-site to ensure events go as planned. Package rates include room hire, refreshments and lunch.

Other facilities on the University of Bath campus include more than 40 conference, meeting and seminar rooms. The Chancellors' Building has tiered theatres for between 150 and 350 people. Each room features state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. The facility also has 18 classrooms for hire designed with capacities of between 30 and 80 people. Two foyer spaces may also be used for exhibitors or receptions. The East Building's 350-seat tiered lecture theatre, several classrooms for up to 64 people and foyer spaces are also available for hire. There are also four catering venues available for conferences at the University of Bath. The Lime Tree bar and refectory accommodates up to 550 people, while the Fountain Canteen is designed for up to 350 delegates. The Claverton Rooms seats up to 350 guests with views of the campus' lake and the more intimate Wessex Restaurant is able to accommodate up to 80 people.

Bath Spa University

Built between 1762 and 1765, Newton Park's Georgian architecture is a charming setting for conferences and meetings. In addition the eighteenth century manor house, the grounds also include gardens designed by Capability Brown and a castle that dates back to the thirteenth century. Part of Bath Spa University, Newton Park has been transformed into an event venue with indoor and outdoor spaces for hire. The facility is perfect for team building events, workshops, conferences, staff retreats, board meetings, and other events. Accommodation is also available at the site.

Newton Park is managed by Bath Spa Venues, the university's venue hire service. The Main House has four main rooms with seating for up to 26 people. Each room is ornately decorated, and three of the rooms are interlinking for maximum flexibility. Newton Park's castle can also be used as a unique space for breakout sessions or other events. Also at Bath Spa University is the Commons, the university's teaching building. From small rooms to large spaces for up to 250 people, the facility offers various rooms for meetings of all sizes. All meeting rooms include Wi-Fi and advanced conferencing systems. There are also several breakout spaces that seat five to eight people.

Folly Farm

The Folly Farm Centre is a multi-purpose conference and event venue offering a memorable location for business meetings and gatherings. Owned by the Avon Wildlife Trust, the eco-friendly centre is fully accessible with conference facilities and on-site accommodation. Situated on a beautiful 250-acre nature reserve, the conference centre is only 10 miles from Bath. There are three purpose-built suites with modern amenities and technology. The largest conference room is the Oak Room, which is designed to accommodate up to 60 people. Folly Farm also has en-suite accommodation for multi-day events, and the location close to nature makes it perfect for team building activities. The facility is recognised for its environmental initiatives, including minimising the use of energy and providing recycled conference pads and vegetable ink pens for delegates. These efforts were celebrated with a South West Fairtrade Business Award in 2015.
